The grand scheme of things: Clues!

Year: 2009 as per solar/"Gregorian" calendar, as far as we know -> evidence is people from the same time period being familiar with the stance of technology

:: compare my year: 1792 as per solar calendar (renaming of Edo to Tōkyō in 1868, Meiji period, opening to the West; from Makimachi-san) ::

Barriers on all sides - underground, sea, sky. (from Riou-san; Radius?)

Curses: Theme for each month? (from Tamura-san) Sometimes themed for holidays - sometimes twisted, others not; often "good" curses - holidays of different cultures, though mostly "contemporary"

-> special: the curse that lets people in -> some of them seem to know a lot; note: needle them next time

Worlds: most similar to my own! City attuned to these -> adaptation to its citizens?

Warden elections: organized by deities! Distraction-manoeuver?

Library: never gives you what you're looking for

Forest: dangerous creatures! Passage through it to the beach

--> magic in some things, not in all

Overall a tendency for mixed messages; some things to make us feel at home, others for annoyance or torture (subjective)

June: an epidemic of fleas - left behind by Adrastus and his mother?

Pesticide -> deities are not sympathetic to Adrastus & mother, or the reverse? (from Carl)

-- Adrastus's messages: hear the beat - heartbeat? Ticking? The clock as the womb? The City as the womb? And then the mother: tied to the City how? --

Clock stopped working during zombie invasion in December -> end of the year always unusual happenings (from Lockon-san)

-> mid-year as well?

Regular "mixed curse weekend" since February or March - usually the first weekend of the month

-> second weekend in June -> meaning?

-> meteor shower on the first weekend -> planned or disruption in the "deity schedule"?

Note: talk to deity(/ies)

Deity Office: guarded; no unguarded back entries -> if entry is wished, under pretense of wanting a trade might be best; note: search network for precedent attacks/invasions of Deity Office (in progess; so far no luck)

-> carousel seems invincible (... thanks, Kanda)

Note: It's not making sense yet.

So that was Father's Day according the the City, huh? For the record, I liked it. I liked it a lot. I spent the day with my father, and I had so much to tell him and to explain! What's been going on in the last three years, and then how this City works. And, most importantly, I got to say goodbye to him. Even if he wasn't real -- I want to believe he was. Umi-chan is right: for this, I thank you, City.

Now, can we have the same thing for next Mother's Day? I'd even be willing to stick around until then, if that were the case.

... I probably shouldn't be saying this, knowing how many people were visited by bad fathers yesterday, huh? Ah, well. Not like I'm getting my hopes up. That would be foolish.

Back to everyday City routine, it is!

I think it was... parasites?

[identity profile] kirinofen.livejournal.com 2009-06-28 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
... Ew. Where the heck did they come from all of a sudden?

[identity profile] revengeisalie.livejournal.com 2009-06-28 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hearsay has it that it's connected to the beast, Adrastus, and his mother.

[identity profile] kirinofen.livejournal.com 2009-06-28 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh? You mean that hair monster from awhile back? ... I guess that would make sense...

[identity profile] revengeisalie.livejournal.com 2009-06-28 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that one. And I think it does make sense. The only question that is left is if the deities had anything to do with it.

[identity profile] kirinofen.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well, they're the ones that let the hair monster roam around in the first place.

[identity profile] revengeisalie.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but are they really its superior?

[identity profile] kirinofen.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Even if they're not, shouldn't they have the power to get rid of things like that?

[identity profile] revengeisalie.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
And that! Is precisely the question.

... or something.

[identity profile] kirinofen.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Well, I guess the answer to that might simply be they don't care or want to, so they don't.

[identity profile] revengeisalie.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Except that that smoke bomb that appeared here a few days back was apparently a pesticide.

[identity profile] kirinofen.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Really? ... Oh, so maybe the snow was... Hm.

Well I just don't know. They're are too many possibilities.

[identity profile] revengeisalie.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Never heard a word more true.

[identity profile] kirinofen.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
I guess we'll never know if they actually care about us or they care about their entertainment.

[identity profile] revengeisalie.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
They certainly put on a good show of not caring.

[identity profile] kirinofen.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
No kidding. They're good actors or something.

[identity profile] revengeisalie.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
Really damn good.
