Thank you for being as into magic as I am and a super cool friend!
I drew a picture of you!
[Attached is a pen drawing made by Luz of Rin.]

And it's kind of touching that this girl she met once is thinking of her. ]
Hey, ah... Luz? Is that right?
Thank you so much for the drawing. I really, really appreciate it! I look very happy there. I'm going to take it as a reminder to be happy in the future.
no subject
You're welcome! You were really fun to draw! We haven't talked a lot, but, I thought you were pretty happy, and this felt right. So, yeah!
I'm going to keep working on my artwork, so I can be as good as your painter friend!
[She is still so unaware said painter friend uses blood, but its fiiine.]
no subject
Rin wasn't happy for a long time. She doesn't know if she is now.
Not that Luz needs to know absolutely any of that. ]
It's okay! I remember you. You were the girl who talked about magic.
Yes, keep practicing! Practice is what makes the skill.

Early April
So Mizu goes to the fourth floor of the building, mindful of the long hallway and series of closed doors. She knocks on Rin's door, what with her information being shared when she nearly burned the place down within days of moving in, and waits for the young woman to answer.
no subject
That is what Rin is occupied with when she hears the knock at the door. It startles her a little, and she lets out a small yelp. Both because she was very focused on her work and because she doesn't get visitors that often. She leaves her books and papers lying on the low coffee table and goes to answer the door.
She would be lying if she said she wasn't a bit surprised to say Mizu there. She hasn't heard much from Mizu lately; the man seems very insistent on keeping to himself. So it is with that look of surprise on her face that she greets him. "Hello." Then, she hesitates a moment, unsure what to say. Finally, she settles on: "Do you want to come in?"
no subject
"Yes, thank you," Mizu says. "I appreciate it." She doesn't want to worry Rin with the explanation of injuries. They were gained in the best of ways, and it felt far more normal and less uncanny to have some injuries here than none at all. She's not entirely sure what Rin has been up to in the meantime. Figuring herself out? That has been her goal.

On an otherwise unsuspecting night:
She may not have been expecting him so late. He had to clean up after the hunt so he looked nice after all! It's important to look nice when with city humans. There's a light knock, knock, knock along the door. He knows its hers, he can smell her all around, but there's others too.
And the wolf waits patiently, wings tucked away once more.
no subject
Ascertained of the dagger's presence, she opens the door -- only to find a familiar face behind it. "Razor-san?"
no subject
"Done with hunt, came to see. Promised." She may not have realized when their texting ended that he meant THAT very night.
no subject
Still, she smiles at him and steps aside to welcome him inside. "Please come in!" She says.
It's okay, Rin. People gave you plenty of advice on how dates work. You'll be fine.
And on her dining table stands evidence of the help she got: a colorful bouquet that Steve helped her put together earlier in the day.

finally slapping this down; sometime in-between recent trial stuff
But given that she is a neighbor, it was perhaps inevitable that, at some point, conversation would be had one way or another.
He puts out a quick hand to stop the door from swinging fully open and smacking him directly in the face, protectively pulling the small stack of books closer to his chest.
"Careful," he says, only intending a slight admonishment but perhaps conveying more than intended between his expression and tone.
AYYYYY
So she's seen Vergil around, but contrary to what some might believe, she isn't really that prone to just walking up to strangers and making conversation without a reason to do so.
Of course, she does that on the network sometimes, which still seems strange to her. But then, people post to that place with intent. They want to be heard and answered to, so it seems logical to answer.
Either way, right now, she is not thinking about any such things as she exits her apartment building to go about her daily business. Instead, she is mulling over what type of books she wants to check out from the library next. She's been studying a few subjects, but her curiosity's been getting the better of her; the amount of knowledge is so vast it's tempting to just go into any which direction. Thus, she's come to think she should perhaps be a bit more methodical about it.
Which means, of course, that she happens to be carrying her own stack of books as she exits her apartment building's front door. She nearly drops it in surprise when someone stands in front of her.
"A-ah!"
She looks up. Oh, that neighbor. Yeah, she's seen him around. Usually, she'd apologize, but his admonishment is enough to raise her hackles a little. "Careful yourself," she comments, not too forcefully, but with a hint of indignation nonetheless.
no subject
It's a flat look that she's earned herself for her comment, and a question that lacks venom or altogether much irritability. Vergil takes a moment to look down at her arms to see if she has a proper hold on her own stack of books. So long as she doesn't appear to be in danger of dropping them, Vergil takes a step back, pulling the door open wider with him as he does. If she needs a moment to adjust her grip first, Vergil's patient enough to wait for her to do as much.
