四十九 [accidental voice]

[The sound flickers on and records a bit of cloth rustling and a muffled yawn or two. Then, a loud gasp.]

... f-f-father?

[A few sobs begin to escape Rin's mouth and lace her speech.]

Father! O-oh my God, it really... did you... did you just arrive?

[A pause in which only her quiet sobs are audible.]

Mmh, yeah, it's... kinda strange. I-I can explain! But... what... I mean --

[A pause, again.]

Hah? ... oh.

I-it's been three years. I'm so sorry, gosh, I'm so--

It's not okay! I couldn't do anything at all!

[And another pause. Finally, the sobs subside.]

Really? You think?

... I recently turned seventeen... I look a lot more grown-up, don't I?

...

WHAAAT?

[She laughs quietly.]

Yeah, a lot happened, but...

I'm just so glad.
